The recent stretch of tranquil weather conditions in the Atlanta area will come to an end later this week.
An area of low pressure moving through the Great Lakes and into the Northeast will drag a cold front through the region.
Skies will be mostly cloudy on Thursday and there could be an afternoon shower or thunderstorm in spots.

After reaching the low 80s F at midweek, daytime highs will steadily decline to the upper 70s F on Friday, which is slightly above normal for this time of year in the city.

A better chance for unsettled conditions will occur from Thursday night into Friday as the front continues to approach the area. During this time, showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread.
The Braves are scheduled to host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 12:10 p.m. Thursday and the New York Mets at 7:35 p.m. Friday. Fans attending the Thursday game will want to bring a rain jacket in the event a shower unfolds over Turner Field.
Drier weather is expected for the weekend as sunshine returns.
