in effect until Sunday,September 30, 7:00AM,CDT
THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR
* PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA AND NORTHWEST LOUISIANA... INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN NORTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA... CALDWELL...GRANT...JACKSON...LA SALLE...LINCOLN...OUACHITA... UNION LA AND WINN. IN NORTHWEST LOUISIANA...BIENVILLE...DE SOTO...NATCHITOCHES...RED RIVER AND SABINE LA.
* FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING
* A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BE TRACKING ACROSS SOUTHEAST PORTIONS OF TEXAS AND SOUTHERN LOUISIANA OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS. THIS FORECASTED TRACK AND ABUNDANT MOISTURE BEING PUMPED IN FROM THE PACIFIC WILL SET THE STAGE FOR LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL THAT COULD LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST...NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST LOUISIANA. RAINFALL TOTALS FOR THIS EVENT ARE EXPECTED TO BE BETWEEN 2 TO 4 INCHES...WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THE WATCH MAY NEED TO BE EXTENDED BEYOND 7 AM SUNDAY...AS RAINFALL WILL LIKELY STILL BE OVER PORTIONS OF THE WATCH AREA.
* WIDESPREAD RAINFALL HAS NOT BEEN NOTED ACROSS THIS AREA IN ALMOST 2 WEEKS...BUT THIS DOES NOT DIMINISH THE THREAT FOR FLASH FLOODING. ADDITIONALLY...HEAVY RAIN WILL BE FALLING AT NIGHT...MAKING CONDITIONS MORE DANGEROUS AS FLOODED ROADWAYS MAY NOT BE VISIBLE.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
