Tropical Depression Sixteen-E Forms in the Eastern Pacific

Current Storm Status
Tropical Depression Sixteen-E has formed in the open Pacific and is expected to continue moving away from land over the next several days.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
  • Tropical Depression Sixteen-E has formed about 700 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
  • The depression is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Orlene on Sunday and could become a hurricane late Monday.
  • This new system is no threat to any land areas.
