Tropical Depression Seventeen-E Forms in the Eastern Pacific

Tropical Depression Seventeen-E has formed off the western coast of Mexico and is expected to move northwestward, parallel to the coast of Mexico over the next several days.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
  • Tropical Depression Seventeen-E has formed about 430 miles south of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
  • The depression is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Paine on Sunday.
  • T.D. 17-E is expected to remain weak due to increasingly cooler waters by Monday and Tuesday. 
  • Enhanced surf is expected to be the main threat from this depression as it gets closer to northwestern Mexico on Thursday as a remnant low.
