Warm air will build across Germany through Wednesday before rain and thunderstorms arrive.
Much cooler air will settle over Germany following the rainfall, making it feel like a sudden change from summer to autumn as September begins.
Before this cooler air arrives, temperatures will soar across Germany on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Western areas will have the highest temperatures on Tuesday, with highs ranging from 27-30 C (80-86 F) from Stuttgart to Frankfurt, Cologne, Dortmund and Bremen.
Farther east, the warmup will still be noticeable, with high temperatures reaching 25-28 C (77-82 F) from Berlin to Dresden, Nuremberg and Munich.
On Wednesday, the most intense warmth will spread throughout southern and eastern Germany.
Some locations could reach their highest temperatures of August as a few locations near the border with France report temperatures near 32 C (90 F).
The arrival of rain and thunderstorms will hold back temperatures somewhat in western areas, but it will still be a warm day despite the threat of rainfall.
"A few of the storms from Stuttgart to Frankfurt and Dortmund will be severe, with damaging winds and flash flooding during the afternoon and evening hours," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
These storms will weaken slowly and move eastward Wednesday night and Thursday. The arrival of these showers and thunderstorms will signal the end of the summer warmth.

This cool shot will reach eastern Germany on Friday as highs across the entire country range between 16 and 20 C (60 and 68 F).
A soaking rain will make it feel even colder across central and eastern Germany. The rain could be heavy enough to cause flooding across Bavaria.
The heavy rain and flooding will likely lead to widespread travel delays.
