Several rounds of rain and gusty winds will impact the United Kingdom this week with the potential for another named windstorm to occur late in the week.
The first in the series of Atlantic storms will produce a period of rain and gusty winds across the U.K. Tuesday into Tuesday night.
Wind gusts of 30-40 mph (48-65 km/h) are possible across Northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland along with 6-18 mm (0.24-0.71 of an inch) of rain.
Light rainfall will spread across the rest of the U.K. with no widespread travel problems expected.
Another round of rainfall will cross the country from late Wednesday through Thursday continuing the need for brollies and jackets.
A more potent storm will set its sights on the U.K. from Friday into Saturday.
“The potential exists for this storm to become a named windstorm,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
Impacts are expected across the entire country as winds howl and rain falls for an extended period.

Travel delays will range from car to rail and air traffic due to strong winds and also the potential for localized flooding.
The greatest flooding threat will be across Northern Ireland, Northwest England and northern Wales where 25-50 mm (1.00-2.00 inches) of rain is possible.
Powerful winds will be more widespread with gusts of 40-60 mph (65-97 km/h) throughout Northern Ireland, Wales and England on Saturday.
Exposed coastal areas and higher terrain could get even stronger gusts leading to widespread power cuts.
The long range weather pattern will continue the threat for Atlantic storms to bring the threat for downpours and strong winds to the U.K. into the second half of March.
