A system will fuel numerous downpours and heavy thunderstorms across Florida and Georgia into Wednesday, increasing the threat for flash flooding and travel delays.
Although downpours and heavy thunderstorms are not uncommon throughout Florida during the late summer, there will be a noticeable increase through midweek.
"A system will move across Florida into Wednesday and increase the threat for heavy downpours and thunderstorms," AccuWeather Meteorologist Faith Eherts said. "The system already has a history of producing heavy rain across the Bahamas over the last couple of days."

Heavy downpours will also reach the southeastern coast of Georgia Tuesday night and Wednesday as the system's moisture spreads north.
The downpours will be most widespread from approximately 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day and lead to rapidly changing weather conditions.
"The enhanced downpours will be capable of producing 2-3 inches of rain in a short amount of time," said Eherts.
On roadways, the torrential rain will bring visibility to near zero at times, increasing the threat for hydroplaning and quickly flood some areas.
Air travelers across the state may face delays as well.

In addition to flooding rainfall, heavy thunderstorms will be capable of producing gusty winds, but the threat for damaging winds will be isolated.
Although the system was being monitored for further development into a more organized tropical system, this is now unlikely.
The increase in downpours will continue into at least Wednesday before the system diminishes.
Despite the weakening, additional downpours and thunderstorms are possible across Florida into the upcoming weekend, but they will not be as frequent.
