Severe Storms and Flash Flooding Threaten Midwest

Strong to severe thunderstorms are taking aim on the Midwest into midweek. In addition, flash flooding will be a concern, particularly Wednesday into early Thursday.
The National Weather Service has posted a flash flood watch for parts of southeast Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa through Thursday.

Severe Weather Forecast

Tuesday
  • Forecast: A few strong to severe storms may develop in southern Minnesota, northern Iowa and southwest Wisconsin overnight.
  • Threats: Large hail and damaging winds.
  • Cities: Fort Dodge, Iowa | Rochester, Minnesota
Wednesday
  • Forecast: Severe storms may erupt in portions of eastern Nebraska, eastern South Dakota, southern Minnesota, Iowa and southern Wisconsin. Significant flash flooding could also develop in parts of those states, particularly in southern Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin and northern Iowa.
  • Threats: Damaging winds, large hail and flash flooding are the main concerns.
  • Cities: Minneapolis | Omaha | Sioux Falls, South Dakota
