Parts of central and northern Germany can expect summerlike warmth this week as heat approaches record levels.
Areas from Frankfurt and Dusseldorf to Hanover will be some of the the warmest parts of the country into Thursday.
"Tuesday afternoon highs were the peak of the heat, with temperatures 9-12 C (15-20 F) above normal," AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.

The nearby city of Dusseldorf reached 32 C (90) on Tuesday, setting a new record high for the date. The old record for 13 September was 31 C (88 F) from the year 1999.
Despite a slight drop in temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday across Germany, some records could also fall on those days.
Frankfurt's current 14 September record is also 31 C (88 F), right around where temperatures are forecast to hit on Wednesday.
While places from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt on northward will challenge records, areas to the south will experience a less intense heat.

Temperatures for the middle of the week in Munich will be in the middle to upper 20s C (lower 80s F), still shy of the current records around 30 C (86 F).
"Munich's old records should hold their ground throughout the week," Roys said.
While Munich will miss out on record levels, it will still feel summerlike with highs around 26 C (79 F). The average high in the middle of September for Munich is around 19 C (67F).
On Thursday, a change in the weather pattern will bring rain and storms into western and southwestern Germany. In addition to more unsettled weather, this change will help to bring temperatures closer to normal for the end of the week, just in time for the start of Oktoberfest on Saturday.
