Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,August 23,2016
A
cold frontal boundary will transition across the northern tier of the
country on Tuesday, while monsoonal thunderstorms continue to develop
over the Southwest.
A low pressure area will move east
southeastward over south central Canada and the northern Plains. This
system will produce showers and thunderstorms over the northern edge of
the Intermountain West. A cold frontal boundary associated with this
system will extend southwestward from the northern Plains to the Great
Basin. As this frontal boundary transitions east southeastward, it will
collide with warm and muggy air over the Plains. This interaction will
generate strong to severe thunderstorms along the eastern edge of the
northern Plains, the western edge of the Midwest and the central Plains.
Severe thunderstorms will be possible in southeast South Dakota,
eastern Nebraska, northeast Kansas, western Iowa and northwest Missouri.
These thunderstorms are capable of producing large hail, dangerous
straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. In addition, heavy rain will
bring threats of flash flooding to eastern Nebraska, Iowa, northeast
Missouri and northwest Illinois.
Showers and thunderstorms will
remain in the forecast for parts of the Deep South and the Southeast as
the tail end of a frontal boundary shifts over the region.
Isolated
showers and thunderstorms will also persist across parts of the lower
Intermountain West and the Desert Southwest as monsoonal moisture surges
across the Four Corners.
