Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,February 10,2016

A broad area of low pressure will shift across the Northeast on Wednesday, while a warm Pacific system affects the Northwest.

An area of low pressure will move east northeastward over the Great Lakes and the Northeast. This system will bring a blast of cold air to the majority of the eastern states. Temperatures will range 10 to 20 degrees below normal across the middle and upper Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley, the interior Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast. This air will interact with the relatively warm waters of the Great Lakes, which will lead to lake effect snow across portions of western Michigan, northern Indiana, northeast Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, southwest New York and Upstate New York. Snow accumulations will range between 6 to 12 inches downwind of the Great Lakes, while 1 to 6 inches of snow will accumulate across the remainder of the Midwest and the Northeast.

Just to the west, an elongated area of low pressure will dive southeastward over the northern and central Plains. A swath of light to moderate snow will develop from North Dakota to the western edge of the Tennessee Valley.

Out west, a low pressure system will move slowly over the northern Pacific. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will brush across the Northwest. Light to moderate rain will develop from northern California to western Washington. High elevation snow showers will also be possible across the Cascades. A pair of high pressure systems will focus over the coast of California and the Intermountain West. These systems will influence a dry weather pattern across most western states. Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees above normal over the Southwest on Wednesday.
