DC, Baltimore: Dry Spell to Replace Severe Storms Thursday

Washington, D.C., and Baltimore will catch a break from showers and thunderstorms Friday and this weekend.
An area of high pressure will replace Thursday's storminess beginning Friday and through this weekend, preventing those with outdoor plans from having to deal with weather-related delays.
The exception will be the far western and southern suburbs as the push of drier air from the high will not be strong enough to clear the potential for an afternoon thunderstorm Friday and Saturday totally.

Residents and visitors will want to be sure to apply sunscreen and take other precautions to protect themselves from the harmful rays of the sun.
Skies will be partly to mostly sunny daily with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s. Washington, D.C., should even crack the 90-degree mark on Sunday.
Homeowners and landscaping crews in part of the mid-Atlantic have been struggling to find time to cut grass during the wet pattern.
According to AccuWeather Meteorologist Eric Leister, "When you see a break coming your way on AccuWeather MinuteCast® for Your Location or the AccuWeather radar, you better take advantage of it."

Following the break, more rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely to return next week.
How long the wet pattern lasts or how wet it becomes will depend on exactly where the storm train sets up from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic and fluctuates from day to day.
