Pittsburgh: New Week Brings Severe Storms, Then Warmth.

Severe thunderstorms on Monday will kick off a week that will be dominated by warm and steamy air.
Despite temperatures falling short of Sunday's high, more humid air will pour in on Monday as an area of high pressure slides off the Northeast coast.
As a cold front approaches and slices into the steamy air, thunderstorms will erupt.

"Damaging winds and large hail will threaten areas from Kentucky and Tennessee northeast through Pennsylvania and southern New York [Monday afternoon and evening]," stated Andy Mussoline.

Pittsburgh lies in the middle of the severe weather threat zone.
In addition to the damaging winds and hail, the heaviest thunderstorms into Monday night will unleash excessive downpours. Isolated flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas cannot be ruled out.
Any motorists caught in these downpours will face reduced visibility and a heightened risk of vehicles hydroplaning at highway speeds.
Anyone spending time outdoors should monitor AccuWeather MinuteCast® and be prepared to seek shelter. Even if someone is willing to withstand a downpour, the danger of being struck by lightning is present as soon as thunder is heard.

Another shower or thunderstorm will follow for Tuesday, threatening to interfere with other sporting events and outdoor events.
The storminess will clear the area by midweek, but that does not mean a turn to cooler weather. Temperatures will instead rise into the lower 80s underneath abundant sunshine on Wednesday.
Further warming is expected later in the week with temperatures set to rise well into the 80s.
