Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,February 7,2015
An active weather pattern will impact the West Coast on Saturday, while a cold front will move over the northern tier of the country.
Several waves of low pressure will streak across the West Coast. Low pressure will interact with a plume of moisture over the eastern Pacific, generating moderate to heavy rain across northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Locally heavy rain is expected along western facing mountain slopes across the northern Sierra Nevada and the coastal range of northern California. Flood warnings are in place over southwest Oregon and northwest California in anticipation of persistent heavy rain. Due to the warm nature of this weather system, snow showers will be confined to the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades, the northern Wasatch and the northern Rockies. High pressure will keep weather conditions mostly dry over the southern Rockies and the Desert Southwest.
Meanwhile, a cold frontal boundary will extend across the northern Plains, the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes and the Northeast. A band of heavy snow showers will develop along this frontal boundary over the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Lake effect snow warnings are in place across Upstate New York and northern Vermont. A calm weather pattern will remain in place from the southern Plains to the Mid-Atlantic on Saturday.
