Following a wet start to the year, mainly dry weather will settle into the United Kingdom. However, this will move stormier weather into Eastern Europe through early this coming week.
High pressure will continue to hold over Ireland and the United Kingdom, bringing a spell of drier weather that will likely last into the middle of the coming week.
This will come as a welcome break for many, coloring a very wet month for places like London. The city had a total of 64 mm (nearly 3 inches) of rain in January, well above the cities average rainfall.

With this pattern holding over the area, much of Ireland and the United Kingdom will be seeing sunshine. The exception to this will be on Monday into Tuesday, when a few isolated showers could graze the western Ireland and northern Scotland coasts. These showers are not expected to amount to much, but will bring a cloudier and damper setting for the day.
Temperatures will remain near average across the British Isles, holding between 5 and 10 C (43 to 47 F) each afternoon through start of the new week.
To balance the sunshine, stormier weather will move around the high and into Scandinavia and eastern Europe.
One wave of low pressure will bring showers on Sunday from southern Italy into Greece. Snow showers will fly from the Alps into eastern Europe as a cold front pushes southward across the region. Most places are not expected to accumulate much in the way of snow on Sunday, however some mountains area could see 8-15 cm (3-6 inches).
This first disturbance will bring rain and snow to the southern Balkans on Monday. It will be cold enough Monday night that snow could mix down to sea level in portions of Greece. Another round of snow will move into the eastern Alps adding to the already deep snowpack.
