Los Angeles: Long-Lasting Heat to Trap Region

The Los Angeles area is facing a stretch of lasting warmth with temperatures approaching up to 20 degrees F above normal for this time of year.
Additionally, Santa Ana winds will could bring gusts in the 25- to 40-mph range into late in the week.
Temperatures are set to hover in the upper 80s into the weekend.

According to AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Ken Clark, daytime highs for the downtown area could hit as high as 20 degrees above their normal average of 68 F for this time of year.
"There'll be unusually high temperatures for several days with dry conditions. Winds will peak on Thursday with some locally strong gusts near 50 mph," he said.
Though not in fire season, Clark said the Santa Ana winds could still have an impact.

"Just because we're not in fire season doesn't mean we can't have one," he said.
Winds will likely not be strong enough to cause widespread delays for air traffic at of Los Angeles International Airport, but some travel could be impacted.

"Winds may make for tricky driving for some high-profile vehicles," Clark said.
