Philly: Friday to Bring Risk of Flash Flooding

After temperatures fluctuate at midweek around Philadelphia, the week will end with a dose of heavy rain and the risk of flash and urban flooding.
Cool air pushed into much of the area from the Atlantic Tuesday and remained through Wednesday. Accompanying the cool air has been patchy low clouds and fog, along with very spotty rain and drizzle.
A southerly flow will allow warm, more humid air to flow back into the region on Thursday. Some locations may reach the 80s F after low clouds and fog break off.
A front responsible for torrential rainfall in Texas will join up with tropical moisture from the Atlantic late in the week.

As this corridor of moisture pivots through the area Friday into Friday evening, the rainfall produced could be heavy enough to cause incidents of flash and urban flooding, along with significant travel delays and disruptions to outdoor activities.

During Saturday, the bulk of the showers and thunderstorms will have shifted to the north and east across New England. Travel conditions will improve locally.
A storm in the upper levels of the atmosphere will bring slightly cooler-than-average temperatures over the weekend. Temperatures typically range from a low in the middle 50s to a high in the middle 70s.
For folks with outdoor plans, such as ball games, graduations and weddings, chilly air aloft associated with the storm could bring brief very spotty showers, during the afternoon and evening hours Saturday and Sunday.
