NYC: Friday to Bring Risk of Flash Flooding

After temperatures fluctuate at midweek around New York City, the week will end with a dose of heavy rain and the risk of flash and urban flooding.
Cool air that pushed into the area Tuesday morning will stick around into Thursday morning. Accompanying the cool air will continue to be patchy low clouds and fog, along with very spotty rain and drizzle.
A south to southeasterly flow will allow warm, more humid air to flow back into the region later on Thursday. Some locations may reach 80 F after low clouds and fog break off.
A front responsible for torrential rainfall in Texas will join up with tropical moisture from the Atlantic late in the week.

As this corridor of moisture pivots through the area Friday afternoon into night, the rainfall produced could be heavy enough to cause incidents of flash and urban flooding, along with significant travel delays and disruptions to outdoor activities.

During Saturday morning, the bulk of the showers and thunderstorms will shift to the north and east across New England. Travel conditions will improve locally during the midday and afternoon.
A storm in the upper levels of the atmosphere will bring near-normal temperatures over the weekend. Temperatures typically range from a low in the middle 50s to a high in the lower 70s.
For folks with outdoor plans, such as ball games, chilly air aloft associated with the storm could bring brief very spotty showers, during Sunday.
