With the cold on the verge of departing the city, warmer weather will arrive for the early weekend before winter returns yet again.
In time for the early weekend, temperatures will jump nearly 20 degrees on Friday, providing residents and visitors some relief from winter's grip. Stray showers and some breezy winds are also in store for Detroit Friday.
Saturday will be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the 40s, but overnight temperatures will plummet into the low teens, bringing colder weather back into the city.

To end the weekend, temperatures will drop below freezing despite sunshine on Sunday. Those headed outdoors for St. Patrick's Day celebration should wear the proper layers, as late in the evening cold-related injuries are possible.
Colder air will remain around the region through Monday.
Although temperatures will spike back up into the 40s on Tuesday, snow showers are possible during the daytime hours.
