WeatherFanatics: UK and Ireland: Stormy Through Christmas

Several rounds of stormy weather will impact the United Kingdom between now and Christmas, leading to travel headaches for many.
Rainfall will spread over Ireland and the United Kingdom Friday afternoon into Friday night as a potent storm system arrives from the Atlantic Ocean.
Rainfall amounts of 25-50 mm (1-2 inches) can occur in less than six hours as downpours spread from west to east into Friday night; local flooding problems can occur.

Along with downpours, strong winds will accompany the front through the region. A brief period of winds over 65-80 kph (40-50 mph) is expected and could cause some downed trees and power outages.
A fast-moving wave of low pressure will follow on Saturday, bringing another round of rain and potentially even stronger winds to Ireland, Wales and England.

Following this second storm, a more tranquil day is expected across the entire region with blustery winds, a few showers and chilly temperatures.

The series of unrelenting storms will continue on Monday and Tuesday with another round of rain and gusty winds for most of Ireland and the United Kingdom.
This strengthening storm system will produce widespread strong to locally damaging winds across the entire United Kingdom and Ireland.
Along with the strong winds, periods of rain will pelt the region both days. Snow will be possible over the higher terrain of Scotland.
The weather is expected to improve for Christmas Day as the worst of the storm shifts farther south across western Europe.
