Another shot of cold Canadian air arrived in the Northern Plains, the
chill stayed mostly in the north through Tuesday, but the leading edge
of the cold front brought showers and thunderstorms to the Mid-West and
Great Lakes regions. Rainfall was mostly focused along the front, but
cloud cover was noted across much of the Northern Plains.
In the West, low pressure just to the west of the Central Coast produced
showers just off the coast, as the low drifts throughout the region,
showers were expected to move ashore Tuesday evening. Some thunderstorms
with hail were forecast as well.
Aside from the coast, the remainder of the West saw mostly clear skies and relatively warm temperatures.
The Northeast saw cloud cover and a couple of showers as a weak area of
low pressure off the coast drove moist Atlantic air ashore.
In the South, mostly clear conditions were reported, along with some
cool temperatures in the southeast and Gulf coast. A line of clouds
associated with a warm front spread from eastern Kansas through Houston,
but no rain was reported under these clouds.
