Active weather continued in the Southwest and the Great Lakes on Thursday, as multiple weather features affected the nation. A low pressure system moved through southern California and into the Southwestern U.S. Flow around this system pushed moisture onshore from the Pacific Ocean, which kicked up scattered showers and thunderstorms that stretched into Nevada and Arizona. Some of the storms have turned severe with strong winds and large hail. Quarter size hail fell for 10 minutes in Topock, Arizona, while wind gusts have ranged from 20 to 30 mph in Las Vegas, Nevada. Midday rainfall totals remained under a half of an inch in most areas, with up to 0.84 inches reported in Bullhead City, Arizona.

East of this activity, a weak front kicked up some scattered showers and thunderstorms across Arkansas. Severe storms have not developed in these areas and rainfall totals remained less than a half of an inch.

To the north, a trough of low pressure continued to move eastward through the Great Lakes. This kicked up more rain showers across the Great Lakes and moved into the Northeast. A cold front dragged behind this system and extended over the Northern Plains and into the Northern Rockies. Cold air poured in behind this front and allowed for a mix of rain and snow showers to develop in the early morning hours from eastern Montana through the Dakotas.
