The main weather producer in the country Tuesday will be a storm that will begin the day over the Tennessee Valley before moving slowly northeastward as the day progresses. The heaviest rain associated with this storm will fall along its cold front as it moves along the eastern seaboard from Virginia through Florida. More scattered rain is anticipated from the Ohio Valley through southern New England.

The aforementioned storm will precede mild to cool air that will be pulled southward into the Mississippi Valley. This air will bring a few degrees of cooling from Minnesota through Louisiana.

One more day of well above normal temperatures is expected in the Southwest as a stubborn high pressure ridge remains along the West Coast. Inland areas of California will warm into the 90s, while the warmest areas will top triple digits. Coastal areas will also be above average as many areas will rise into the 70s and 80s. This hot weather will allow very high fire risk to continue before cooler air will bring some relief to the heat and fire danger later in the week.

To the north, a storm will move into Montana late in the week. Most of the precipitation associated with this storm will wait until Wednesday.

The Northeast will rise into the 60s and 70s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 70s, 80s, and some 90s. The Southwest will rise into the 90s and 100s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and some 80s.
