Cities from Bangor, Maine to as far west as Detroit and Indianapolis will continue to feel impacts today from a potent upper-level storm system.
While severe weather is not a concern, showers and periods of rain will continue to dampen outdoor plans for many across the interior Northeast and Great Lakes.
The worst of the weekend weather will be felt across Maine, especially in northeastern portions of the state, as a steady rain results in rainfall totals approaching an inch in some locations.
Winds will be breezy along the northern New England coast, as well, with winds gusting up to 35 mph through Sunday evening.
A small craft advisory is also in effect through Sunday evening for coastal Maine and into early Sunday morning farther south including Cape Cod and Long Island Sound. This could limit or prevent boating activity in locations that will likely be dry with sunshine.
Fortunately, this dreary and damp weather pattern is not an imminent sign of things to come. The storm system will finally lift out on Sunday and high pressure will return for much of the East next week, resulting in plenty of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures for the workweek ahead.
