A zone of high pressure currently centered in the Carolinas will send a surge of unseasonably warm air into the region this week, allowing temperatures to rise into the 70s for residents of the Big Apple.
Sunshine and breezy conditions will prevail on Monday to start off the workweek. Pleasant afternoon temperatures will rise into the upper 60s.
Then a warm front will lift through the area Tuesday into Tuesday night and that will bring a period of cloudiness and perhaps a shower or two to the area.
Behind that warm front, winds will turn more southerly and temperatures will spike in the lower to mid 70s for Wednesday and Thursday.
The only caveat is that the zone of high pressure will slide off the East Coast Wednesday into Thursday morning, leading to an easterly component to the wind. That east wind can lead to more extensive clouds due to the moisture from the ocean being transported onto land.
Aside from that, expect mild temperatures to continue right into the first part of next weekend.
