A band of heavy rain hit Las Vegas Thursday, putting the region at risk for flash flooding. Las Vegas received 0.63 of an inch of rain between midnight Thursday morning and Thursday at 12 p.m. PDT, more than double the October average precipitation in one day (0.26 of an inch). A radar estimated about four inches of rain west of Las Vegas, as of Thursday morning.
Rain and thunderstorms over the city will continue into Thursday night. The rain is part of a storm system coming in from the California coast. The slow-moving storm will pour on the Las Vegas area over the next few days. Bands of rain and thunderstorms might stay over one area for hours, increasing the risk of flooding. The rain will clear out by Sunday.
