...HOT AND DRY ACROSS SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA THROUGH TUESDAY...
A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE COMBINED WITH LOCALLY BREEZY OFFSHORE WINDS WILL BRING NEAR RECORD HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES THROUGH TUESDAY...ALONG WITH WARM NIGHT-TIME TEMPERATURES. THE HOTTEST DAY WILL BE TODAY...WHERE HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY RANGE BETWEEN 95 AND 105 DEGREES OVER MOST AREAS AWAY FROM THE BEACHES...WITH ISOLATED LOCATIONS NEAR 108 DEGREES IN THE INLAND VALLEYS. THE CENTRAL COAST WILL EXPERIENCE THE BIGGEST CHANGE FROM THE WEEKEND...WITH AROUND A 20 DEGREE INCREASE. WHILE TUESDAY SHOULD BE A FEW DEGREES COOLER...IT WILL REMAIN HOT WITH NEAR RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES.
ALONG WITH THE HOT TEMPERATURES...LOCALLY BREEZY OFFSHORE WINDS ARE EXPECTED IN THE MOUNTAINS AND INLAND VALLEY AREAS...WHICH WILL COMBINE TO BRING A VERY DRY AIR MASS TO THE REGION AND A HEIGHTENED FIRE WEATHER CONCERN. WHILE CONDITIONS WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR FIRE GROWTH NEARLY EVERYWHERE WITH THE VERY DRY FUEL CONDITIONS...THE AREAS OF GREATEST CONCERN WILL BE WHERE THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED. THESE AREAS ARE UNDER A RED FLAG WARNING THROUGH TUESDAY...WHICH INCLUDES THE VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTY MOUNTAINS AS WELL AS THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY.

AVOID STRENUOUS ACTIVITY DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY WHICH IS TYPICALLY FROM LATE MORNING THROUGH EARLY EVENING. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN...PETS OR THE ELDERLY IN A VEHICLE...EVEN WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN AS TEMPERATURES CAN CLIMB TO LIFE-THREATENING LEVELS WITHIN MINUTES. RK
