Weather has the ability to alter the turn out of an election, and with Nov. 6 just over three weeks away, AccuWeather.com has begun its official 2012 election coverage.
"We're still more than three weeks away from the election, so we're not going to get real specific as far as weather is concerned," AccuWeather.com's Evan Myers said.
"But we are going to take sort of a broad, brush approach this week, and then as we get closer to the election, we'll get a lot more specific."
An outlook, however, is possible for the eight battleground states, including: New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.
With a lot of pacific moisture coming up into the British Columbia, Nevada is likely to stay dry come Nov. 6.
The same cannot be said for Colorado, which has the potential to see October and November snowstorms.
Colder air is in store for the northern plain states while the east coast is expected to remain relatively mild from New Hampshire down toward Florida.
The one state that might swing either way is Iowa, according to AccuWeather.com Expert Meteorologist Bernie Rayno.
"That does at least lend the opportunity for some inclement weather," he said.
"Often times, we do get beautiful, mild weather in the eastern seaboard in the middle part of the fall but we can also get some rain, and rain as we know can dampen down turn out," Myers said.
Continue to check back from now through election day as AccuWeather.com will provide daily election coverage through Nov. 6.
