Another round of flooding downpours is expected across southern Germany during the middle of the week.
Flooding in the past week has already resulted in at least eight deaths and that threat will be renewed on Wednesday as heavy thunderstorms erupt across Baden-Wurttemberg and Bavaria.
Mannheim, Stuttgart and Munich will once again be in the area of greatest risk for flooding downpours, dangerous lightning and hail.
Many locations in this region have already received more than a month's worth of rain within the past ten days. One of the hardest-hit locations, Friedrichshafen has reported more than 200 mm (8 inches) of rain since May 28.
Downpours can result in 25-50 mm (1-2 inches) of rain in a short time period causing rivers to quickly rise and leading to travel delays.
Areas from Frankfurt to Nuremberg may receive a shower or thunderstorm; however, the threat for flooding is expected to remain farther to the south.
Thunderstorms will again be possible throughout southern Germany on Thursday, though the threat for heavy rainfall will diminish.
High pressure building to the east of the United Kingdom will press drier air southward into western Germany on Thursday, bringing a welcome break from storms to Cologne, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.

This drier air will press southward into Stuttgart and Munich on Friday.
A weaker storm system will approach on Saturday resulting in a few showers and thunderstorms in southern Germany into Sunday.
Elsewhere across Germany, largely dry and warm weather will prevail through the middle of the week, before cooler air arrives from the north dropping temperatures to more seasonable levels.
