Crowds heading to Randall's Island in New York City for Governors Ball Music Festival this weekend should prepare for rain and thunderstorms.
However, the annual festival taking place from Friday to Sunday will not be a complete washout.
"Rainy conditions will move in on Friday with periods of rain throughout the day," AccuWeather Meteorologist Rob Richards said. "However, the conditions are forecast to clear up by night."
Elle King fans may face wet conditions for her afternoon set on Friday. By the time The Strokes take the stage, the storms will have moved away from the city.

Drier weather will return on Saturday as temperatures rise into the 80s F. The mostly sunny day will be comfortable with little humidity.
Temperatures will drop into the 70s on Sunday as strong thunderstorms return to the city. Active storms throughout the day could total up to an inch of rainfall.
Though clear conditions are likely for many performances including Mac Miller, Duke Dumont and Misterwives, Sunday's performances such as Galantis and Kanye West will likely be accompanied by storms.
Crowds should seek shelter at the first rumble of thunder and remain indoors until the storms have passed.
As an outdoor event, the festival has been impacted by the weather on several occasions.
In 2013, a tropical storm battered Randall's Island over the festival weekend, inundating the grounds which became a sloppy, muddy splashing ground.

Tom Russell, a partner at Founders Entertainment who organizes the music event, cited that the event has a full service weather and emergency plan in place.
Forecasts for the weekend predict less rainfall than the festival's 2013 washout.
The festival's website recommends ponchos, boots and umbrellas in the event of rain. Refunds are not available in the event of rain, as the event takes place "rain or shine."
