Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,April 21,2016
A low pressure system will transition across the Midwest on Thursday, while a cold front approaches the West Coast.
An area of low pressure will shift eastward from the upper Mississippi Valley to the eastern Great Lakes. This system will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the Midwest, the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast. A mixture of rain and snow will be possible across the northern tier of the country, stretching from northern Minnesota to northern Maine. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southwestward from the lower Great Lakes to Texas. As this frontal system moves eastward, it will generate rain and thunderstorms from the southern Plains to the Southeast. Flash flooding will be possible in eastern Texas due to several days of heavy rain. High pressure will dry conditions out across the central Plains, the northern Plains and the Intermountain West.
Meanwhile, a Pacific cold front will approach the West Coast. Light to moderate rain will develop ahead of this system across northern California, western Oregon and western Washington. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible along favorable terrain. In addition, high elevation snow will develop from the Sierra Nevada to the Cascades.
