Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,April 17,2016

A slow moving frontal system will transition across the Plains on Sunday, while a ridge of high pressure lingers over the Northeast.

A cold frontal boundary will stretch south southwestward from the upper Mississippi Valley to the southern Rockies. This frontal system will continue to generate moderate to heavy snow across the Wasatch and the Rockies. Winter storm warnings remain in place for much of Colorado, southern Wyoming and southwest Nebraska. This system will also generate strong to severe thunderstorms across the southern and central Plains. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in central and southern Texas. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Due to the slow nature of this system, there will be threats of flash flooding in eastern Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and eastern Texas.

Scattered showers are expected to develop in parts of southern Florida, while high pressure brings dry and mild conditions to the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast.

A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will also keep conditions dry west of the Continental Divide. Temperatures will climb 5 to 10 degrees above normal across southern California.
