Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,April 12,2016
Wet weather will persist for the Eastern states on Tuesday as a low pressure system in eastern Canada continues pushing a cold front eastward throughout the day. The front will extend across the East Coast, triggering scattered showers from Maine through the Gulf states. Showers will taper off by the afternoon for the Northeastern states, but will persist through Tuesday night from the Carolinas into northern Florida. There is a slight chance of severe weather development with this system across the Gulf states, with the main threats being hail and strong, damaging winds. Rainfall totals will range from a half of an inch to one inch in most of the Southeast, with more likely in areas of severe thunderstorm development.
Just behind this system, a trough of low pressure moves off the Rockies and obtains moisture and energy from the Gulf of Mexico. This will bring more rain and thunderstorms to central Texas on Tuesday, with a change of severe thunderstorm development. Again, the main threats are large hail and strong winds with possibly a tornado or two.
Out West, another low pressure system in the Pacific Ocean pushes a cold front toward the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday. This system will allow for chances of rain to persist for the northwestern corner of the nation for the next few days.
