Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, March 6,2016

A stormy weather pattern will continue across the western part of the country on Sunday, while above normal temperatures are expected over the southern Plains.

A plume of moisture will bring impacts to the West Coast and the Intermountain West. Moderate to heavy rain will impact southern Oregon and a large portion of California. Rain accumulations will range between 1 to 3 inches through Sunday for portions of northern California and the coast of the Pacific Northwest. Flash flood watches are in place for much of central and northern California. A cold frontal boundary will lower snow levels for the Cascades and the Sierra Nevada. Anywhere from 1 to 2 feet of snow will be possible across the Sierra Nevada, especially along western facing mountain slopes. Winter storm warnings are in place for the entire Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. This system will also be accompanied by strong winds. High wind warnings are in place for northwest Oregon, northern California, Oregon and southeast Washington. In addition, light to moderate precipitation will spread eastward across the Great Basin and the Intermountain West.

Meanwhile, a surge of warm air will intrude across the Plains. High temperatures will range between the 60s and 70s for the eastern edge of the Desert Southwest, the southern Plains and the central Plains.

Back east, a cold air mass will remain in place for much of the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England.
