Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,February 17,2016

A Pacific cold front will impact the West Coast on Wednesday, while a wave of low pressure slides across the Midwest.

A low pressure system will brush across the coast of Washington and British Columbia. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend south southwestward from the northeast Pacific to the coast of California. As this frontal boundary moves onshore over the West Coast, moderate to heavy rain will impact the lower elevations of Washington, Oregon and a large span of California. Heavy snow showers will also develop across the southern Cascades and the Sierra Nevada. The two mountain ranges could receive over one foot of snow in favorable locations. By the late afternoon and evening, light to moderate precipitation will spread eastward over the Great Basin and the Intermountain West.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will shift east southeastward over the Great Lakes. This system will usher a light mixture of rain and snow over the Midwest, the central Appalachians and parts of the Northeast. A blast of cold air will trail this system, affecting the upper Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley and New England.

High pressure will keep weather conditions dry across the Plains, the Mississippi Valley, the Deep South and the Southeast on Wednesday.
