Unusual storm to bring snow to Germany on Wednesday

A storm taking an abnormal track from Italy northward to western Poland will bring accumulating snowfall to eastern Germany on Wednesday.
The northerly track of this storm will allow chilly air to remain in place across Germany resulting in snowfall instead of rain.
Snow will begin Wednesday morning in Bavaria with a few flurries occurring as far west as Stuttgart.
"Accumulations will be mainly during the morning in Bavaria with snowfall tapering off during the afternoon," AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.

Snow will total 2-8 cm (1-3 inches) across Bavaria, with the largest amounts in the higher terrain.
The snow will advance northward reaching Dresden early in the afternoon and Berlin by the evening commute.
The snow will continue into Wednesday night across northeast Germany, including Magdeburg, Berlin and Schwerin.

While accumulations during the day will be highest on non-paved surfaces, dropping temperatures during the evening will allow for roadways to become covered by snow, causing treacherous travel conditions.
Snow accumulations from Saxony to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are expected to average 2-5 cm (1-2 inches).
Dry and seasonably cool weather is expected across Germany on Thursday.
