Rain, snow and fog to slow travel in midwestern US at late week

A storm system will affect the Midwest as the week draws to a close, bringing rain, pockets of wintry weather and travel delays.
Spotty rain will swing northeastward over the middle Mississippi and Ohio valleys and into the lower Great Lakes region. A period of wet weather will affect the swath from St. Louis and Memphis to Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.

According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist John Gresiak, "The biggest travel issue over the Ohio Valley region from the storm is likely to be patchy dense fog."
Farther north in the Midwest, marginal temperatures will allow a mixture of snow, sleet and rain in the swath from Chicago to Detroit. While only a small accumulation is likely, enough can fall to make some roads slippery.
Despite the milder air coming into the Interstate 80 and I-94 swath, the ground will be cold and could lead to icy patches and slide-offs.

From portions of northern Wisconsin to northern Michigan, the storm could muster enough moisture to bring a couple of inches of snow.
On Saturday, spotty snow showers will follow across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley, as a nor'easter blasts New England.
In the wake of the storm, another blast of arctic air will sweep across the North Central states this weekend.
