Indiana State Police reported multi-vehicle crashes on interstates 70 and 74 Tuesday morning as a fast-moving clipper system covered the Ohio Valley and Northeast with snow.
Additionally, as snow spread eastward, a crash involving at least 10 vehicles on I-70 in Pennsylvania was reported, according to WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh.
As of 11:00 a.m. ET, Indiana State Police confirmed that troopers were on the scene of a crash on I-74 where multiple vehicles including semi-trucks and passenger vehicles collided. The crash occurred near mile marker 168, close to the Indiana/Ohio border.
A similar situation unfolded earlier in the morning on I-70, just east of the Centerville Road exit at mile marker 145.5 in Wayne County.

"Generally, 1-3 inches of snow have fallen across the region, but this is just enough to create slick conditions on roadways," AccuWeather Meteorologist Becky Elliott said.

After snow squalls went through western New York, a tractor-trailer collided with an ambulance on Route 20 in Evans late Tuesday afternoon. One person died in the crash, according to WGRZ-TV in Buffalo.
The road reopened more than 6 hours later, Evans Police said.
Elsewhere in Pennsylvania, an 86-mile detour was in effect on the Pennsylvania Turnpike as the result of an accident near the Somerset Interchange and milepost 107 westbound, WTAE said. The turnpike reopened late Tuesday.
These squalls created near-zero visibility in some areas and caused roads to become snow-covered in a short amount of time.
