As many locations across Turkey dig out from their first major snowstorm of the winter, a pair of winter storms will bring more snow, mixed precipitation and rain across the country early this week.
Last week, over 60 cm (2 feet) of snow fell across parts of northern Turkey. Snow squalls in Istanbul produced 15-30 cm (6-12 inches).
Hundreds of flights were canceled in Istanbul according to Al Jazeera. The snow also caused numerous accidents in and around Istanbul, killing at least one person and injuring many more.
Much of Turkey saw a break from the significant wintry weather over the weekend, but with the new week, a pair of storms will lead to more rain, snow and mixed precipitation.
The first system will move across the country on Monday, spreading snow across northern and central areas. Locations previously hit by heavy Black Sea effect snow across northwestern Turkey will not see a repeat on Monday.

Istanbul will have milder temperatures allowing for rain near the coast and a mix of rain and snow in the higher terrain.
Temperatures, however, will remain cold enough for snow across the interior of the country where general snowfall of 1-3 inches is expected. Ankara is included within this area.

While the storm on Monday will bring snow across central and northern portions of the country, a second area of low pressure on Tuesday will usher in milder air, causing snow and mixed precipitation in central Turkey to change to rain.
Eastern parts of the country will be the most likely area to have enough cold air in place to support all snow. From Monday into Tuesday, 8-15 cm (3-6 inches) of snow will fall in this area.
While much of central, eastern and northern Turkey contends with wintry weather, rain will fall along the southern coast. Some of this rain will be heavy on Monday, leading to the threat for flooding from Antalya to Mersin.
