The second round of flooding rain and severe thunderstorms in about a week have hit portions of Texas and Louisiana hard Friday into Saturday.
From 8 to 16 inches of rain have fallen on some communities.
Widespread flash flooding has resulted in fatalities and missing persons. Violent storms, including a few tornadoes, have caused significant property damage and cut the power to thousands of utility customers.
The flooding and severe storm risk will continue into Sunday in parts of the Deep South.
According to the Associated Press, at least six people have died from flash flooding in the Austin and San Antonio areas.

The Associated Press reported that at least two people were hurt and more than two-dozen mobile homes were damaged after a possible tornado near Alvin, Texas, south of Houston, Texas, Saturday morning.
