Hurricane Patricia is expected to leave widespread damage to parts of the western Mexico coast, leaving many residents and tourists in immediate danger in several towns.

Shelters are open, and countries are working with their embassies in Mexico to communicate with vacationers to ensure they get to safety. If you, or someone you know, are in the area expected to get clobbered by Patricia's impacts, here are some important links that may help get you to safety.

Puerto Vallerta shelters

A list of shelters opened for the storm is here, though this website has intermittently crashed Friday afternoon, likely due to high traffic.

In Puerto Vallarta, emergency calls should go to 060. In Manzanillo, dial 01 (314) 336-5770 for the Mexican Red Cross.

In Manzanillo, a Red Cross ambulance can be reached at 355-2300.
