Following a break in shower and thunderstorm activity very early in the weekend, the risk of a thunderstorm downpour will increase on the Fourth of July from Philadelphia to Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Spotty shower and thunderstorm activity will affect the Philadelphia area from Thursday into Friday morning. At the shore, the risk of downpours may continue right through Saturday evening.
It is possible on Saturday afternoon and evening for Independence Day readings, the parade, the Party on the Parkway, Philly Fourth of July Jam and Grand Finale Fireworks. A number of locations across the nation could be hit by a Saturday evening storm.

Some people may notice a slight drop in humidity levels over the holiday weekend itself.
Highs most days will be in the 80s F around Philly, but temperatures will stop in the upper 70s F at the shore. Ocean water temperatures are in the low to middle 70s F.

People should be careful when spending time outdoors this weekend doing activities such as fishing, camping or heading to the beach as pop-up storms can begin producing lightning with little notice. At the first sign of lightning or clap of thunder, seek shelter indoors or in a vehicle. Quick rises can also occur along small streams.
