Mainly Dry With a Warming Trend for Wimbledon

July 7,2015; 9:48PM,EDT

A stretch of dry weather will begin Wednesday in London and much of the United Kingdom, lasting until at least Saturday. What is more, a day-to-day warming trend will set in Thursday.

For Wimbledon quarterfinals play, the odd passing shower early on Wednesday will give way to long times of sunshine later in the day. The high temperature will be 21 C, essentially normal for the date. Westerly winds reaching 30 to 40 km/h will have it feeling cool in the shade.
As low pressure leaves by way of Scandinavia, Atlantic high pressure will build eastward over England and France Wednesday through Friday, thereby fostering continued daily abundant sunshine over much of the United Kingdom.

In London, day-to-day warming will take the high temperature to 22 C on Thursday, then to about 24 C Friday and Saturday. Elsewhere, a few places in England will see 25 C to 26 C, nowhere near the wilting heatwave levels of last week.
A cold front triggering a few showery outbreaks will make its way eastward across the United Kingdom at the weekend, reaching the London area on Sunday.
