Farther to the northwest, where colder air has taken root, snow showers will continue across portions of Wisconsin and Michigan through Wednesday night.
According to AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Steve Travis, "Rain showers will spread [southeastward] across the region during the day Wednesday, then as temperatures fall to near freezing, some snowflakes will mix in."
Some cities that can expect wet snow at times include Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago and Buffalo, New York.

Wet snow can be seen over parts of the central Appalachians to northern New England into Thursday. Snowflakes can fall as far south as the West Virginia mountains, and as far east as the Poconos, Catskills and Berkshires into Wednesday night.
"Most places will not see any accumulation; however, a few areas over higher elevations could pick up a coating on grassy surfaces," Travis said.
The areas with the greatest chance for a coating to an inch or two of wet snow will be across the northern and Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the Adirondack, White and Green mountains. Some of the higher ground in western Pennsylvania and northern can receive a small accumulation as well.
Due to the recent warm spell across the region, any snowflakes that fall will quickly melt on roadways with no accumulation expected, even if temperatures dip a couple degrees below freezing.
