Summerlike Warmth to Close April in Beijing

The end of April will feel more like summer in Beijing and the rest of northeastern China.
Fresh cool air filtering into China, north of Beijing, on Friday is not a sign of things to come for the remainder of April.
Temperatures are set to soar on Saturday throughout northeastern China as an area of high pressure settles over the East China Sea and southwesterly winds pump in warmer air.
An even hotter day will unfold on Sunday with widespread highs in the lower 30s C (upper 80s and lower 90s F).

Both days of the weekend will be the hottest for Beijing since temperatures soared to 32.8 C (91 F) on Sept. 4, 2014. A high in the lower 20s C (lower 70s F) is more common this time of year.
For those residents who are planning to spend a part of the warm weekend outdoors, dry weather will dominate. The exception will be west of Beijing, where a stray shower or thunderstorm will rumble each afternoon.
Residents are urged to take it easy during strenuous activities during the midday and afternoon hours, as well as drink plenty of water to avoid suffering from a heat-related illness. That is especially true for the elderly, children and those sensitive to the heat.

While the warmth will ease some to the north early next week, the same cannot be said for Beijing and points to the south. The summer warmth here will instead linger through the upcoming week before possibly going out with a bang next weekend.
