As another winter storm ramps up, snow and ice pummeled the Midwest and will continue to spread into the Northeast throughout Tuesday.
At Chicago O'Hare International Airport, hundreds of flights were canceled early Tuesday morning as snow and ice created two-hour delays for some departing and arriving flights. Slick roads were reported across the Midwest and into the Ohio Valley.
"Snow will spread from upstate New York and New York City into southern and western New England late Tuesday afternoon. Areas from northern New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, upstate New York and southern New England will see a transition to ice and then rain tonight into Wednesday morning," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.
"Motorists from the upper part of the mid-Atlantic to New England should expect untreated surfaces to be slippery tonight, since the warming effect of the March sun will no longer be present," he said.
