A winter storm brought power outages, icy conditions and travel delays across much of the Central and Southern states before spreading heavy snow across parts of the mid-Atlantic as well as an icy mix across the Carolinas.
Disruptive snow moved up the coast of the mid-Atlantic into southern New England through Tuesday morning, making for a tricky morning commute along the I-95 corridor.
Early Tuesday morning, over 200,000 customers were left without power across Georgia, Arkansas and the Carolinas, but by noon Tuesday, Georgia Power was able to restore electricity to more than 130,000 customers. Entergy Arkansas was making progress on restoring power to over 9,000 in southwest and southeastern Arkansas. Duke Energy had restored power to more than 100,000 throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.
