The coldest air of the winter will affect the Philadelphia area through Monday and will rival some of the temperatures experienced during January 2014.
Until this weekend, the coldest it has been in Philadelphia thus far this winter was 9 F on Jan. 8.
Temperatures could dip well down into the single digits F by Monday morning in Philadelphia, which would be the coldest since Jan. 22, 2014. The coldest temperature reading in January 2014 was 4 F. Prior to January 2014, temperatures dipped to 3 F on Jan. 24, 2005, at Philadelphia.
At times gusty brutal winds will add to the frigid air making for downright dangerous conditions to be outdoors for an extended period of time. Winds may get strong enough to cause sporadic power outages and cause flight delays.
AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will be below zero. There is a risk of frostbite on exposed skin and hypothermia if not properly dressed.

Due to the extreme cold, snow that fell in some areas from the locally blinding squalls during the first part of the Valentine's Day weekend will lay around. Temperatures at this level render the majority of ice melting compounds ineffective. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to travel with caution as a result.
Additional waves of arctic air will blast across the region through next week which will continue to add to the pain while waiting for the bus or train, and when you get your heating bill later.
A southern storm will be watched for possible impact on the area with snow during Tuesday into Wednesday.
