The Lake Okeechobee Hurricane made landfall along the southeastern
Florida coast on Sept. 16, 1928. This hurricane was the second deadliest
hurricane in U.S. history, killing over 4,000 people along its path.
Winds gusted to 150 mph at landfall in Florida.
