Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,September 12,2014
Cold
air continues to spread across the country on Friday as a ridge of high
pressure continues pushing cold air in from the north. Frost and freeze
advisories have been issued as early morning low temperatures across
the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest will range in the 30s, with parts
of the Northern Rockies waking up to highs in the lower 20s. This system
is expected to produce high elevation snow for parts of Montana,
Wyoming, and into Colorado. As this moisture moves eastward throughout
the day, scattered rain showers will develop across the Plains and
toward the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes into Friday evening. Heavy
precipitation is not anticipated with this system.
Ahead of this system, a low pressure system over eastern Canada will continue pushing a cold front southeastward into the southern states. This system will linger over the South, kicking up more moderate to heavy rain showers across the Gulf states from the Carolinas through Texas as the front becomes more stationary.
Out West, a ridge of high pressure will maintain above normal temperatures across the West Coast. Warm and dry conditions allow for dangerous fire weather conditions, thus expect red flag warnings to continue for parts of the Western states.
